HAPPY NEW YEAR
I am a little slow in wishing you a Happy New Year. This Christmas season was especially full with family members coming and going, finishing up and mailing gifts, working at my job at Seams Like Home in Anchorage (retail is always crazy busy in December!), and fighting an nasty cold and cough. I did enjoy all the time with my husband, kids and grandkids ~ finished all the gifts that really needed done ~ and am feeling more like myself again.
So here I am, better late than never, wishing you a Happy New Year! How was your Christmas and holiday season? What was the best gift you received and the best gift you gave? I had a great time making an Advent wall hanging for my grandchildren. I managed to get the wall hanging done on November 30 along with 6 of the ornaments that would be moved to buttons on the tree each day. Every couple of days I finished a few more. Sometimes dropping them off early in the morning or late at night. It was an ongoing gift-making and delivering project that lasted all through December. I think it turned out great and they enjoyed discovering a new ornament each morning.
The patterns continue to be popular. During 2015 I sold 77 Snow Skirt patterns, 46 It’s a Wrap patterns, and 25 Girl’s Snow Skirt patterns. These patterns have found their way to your homes in Montana, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois ~ to name a few states, as well as a few locations in Canada. And of course….Alaska!
SOMETHING NEW AT CULLER CREATIONS
December found me learning how to offer Snow Skirt Kits on my website. Many people had shared that they had trouble finding the supplies to make their own insulated winter skirt using one my patterns. This took more time than I anticipated, but I think I got the details worked out and the kits are ready to purchase! I sponsored a Giveaway for one Snow Skirt Kit and had amazing participation.
Congratulations to our Snow Skirt Kit winner – Alexa from Alaska!
Wow ~ the entries for the Snow Skirt Kit Giveaway just poured in. I had no idea there would be so much interest. Thank you for entering and shareing the entry information on Facebook posts with friends. Looks like many of you want to be warmer this winter!
SNOW SKIRT KITS AVAILABLE
Snow Skirt Kits are now available on my website for purchase. Choose from black, purple, burgandy or turquoise for the rip stop color. The parka lining is pre-quilted and comes with black on one side and blue on the other. You can choose which color you want to see on the inside of your skirt.
The Kit will include everything you need to make the Snow Skirt (fabric, 2-way zipper, pocket zipper, twill tape, thread, elastic cord, shank button and one yard of Pattern Ease to trace your size from the original pattern). You can choose to order a kit with or without the pattern. Some of you had mentioned that you had already purchased a pattern, so I decided to offer this option. The Kit will be shipped in a flat rate USPS box.
Has there been an interest in kits, you ask? ~ I have received orders and shipped four Snow Skirt Kits already!
TEACHING SNOW SKIRT CLASSES
Alexa has received her Snow Skirt Kit and is saving it to take a class with me that I will be teaching in Fairbanks, at Northern Threads the end of January. I am feeling so privileged to be able to teach the Snow Skirt class several times this winter:
- January 23-24 in Bethel, Alaska
- January 29-30 at Northern Threads, Fairbanks, Alaska
- February 5-6 at Seams Like Home, Anchorage
- February 12-13 in Healey, Alaska
Can you believe it? I am still amazed myself ~ and looking forward to meeting new friends and helping them make unique and warm Snow Skirts to add to their winter gear! Pictures to follow as the adventures unfold….
